Lovin Some Summer!

Well here is what we have been up to since summer finally decided to visit...

Jax can't get enough cabin time.
He thinks the bird feeder is facinating. He also thinks the baby chipmunks who steal the seeds are the greatest thing ever.
Pre-school graduation was the cutest thing ever. His class acted out the story of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"
Jax with Miss Amy and Miss Rhonda.
Looking so handsome before the program.

And it begins... T-ball has taken over our lives. Jax is on the Braves team and he loves it!
Sorry these are a little blurry...
This one is my favorite!
Coach Cannon and Coach Peck with their little team. (Notice Jax is in the back of the pack and totally not paying attention!) I bet Joel and I have to 'remind' him to pay attention about 20 times in the 4 innings they play!

He is such a little stud!

A few cakes

Valentine's Day Wedding. This cake was the equivalent of 10 9x13 cakes and was ALL red velvet. Holy red coloring!!This was for the sweetest bride I have EVER worked with!
Lots of cakes coming up!!

Catch up...

I have not update this in so long! So here (in reverse order) is a little update! Jax turned 5 March 24th! Crazy! Here are some pictures from the day...

We took Jax & his little buddy Rider bowling and to eat. They chose chicken nuggets. Gross! And he got a little 4-wheeler. Oh so spoiled...
Rain or shine- I think he has ridden it every single day since he got it. So far we haven't had any broken body parts.
Playing catch with Grandpa.

Yeah- the cake lady bought a cake for her kid's birthday... supermom huh?!
This is not from Jax's birthday, but I haven't put any pictures up of him and his dog. This is Marvin. We love love love him!

And this one is from way back at Christmas! Jax loves his guitar and I am going to try to get him in some lessons soon- so if anyone knows where I could sign him up- let me know!

Jaxer Update

Jax has been hanging out with grandpa at the cabin lots lately. This last week they put the handrail up on the deck. Pretty stinkin nice huh! I am so lucky to have such great parents... who let me use their cabin whenever I want!
And he helped grandpa cut down a Christmas tree. Jax and his buddy Grandpa!
And- needless to say... He is so pumped for Christmas. He wore this hat all day, everyday for about a week.

Bridezilla at her very finest....

So- for those of you who FaceBook- you have probably already seen me complaining about this but here is my lovely story for the week. I had a bride tell me she wanted a square cake that was 3 tiers with the middle one double stacked. She wanted a big black and silver bow around the middle of it and she wanted it to be the same color as the flowers she was using. She was having black bacarra roses- which happen to be the same roses I was going to use when I planned my own wedding once- anyways she gave me a sample of the material they would be using and I was to match the cake to the sample... So here is the sample held up to the fondant.
Matches pretty darn near huh?!
Well here is the final product-

And here it is again...

And again...
So I set it all up and I am waiting for Bride to come approve of it so her mother can pay for it... oh and hold up- Bride comes over and instead informs me that it is "not what she was thinking and it is just really too dark and she is just really upset about it" Ehem- excuse me? Yep- so mother and daughter and bridesmaids and groom and his parents and his groomsmen all gather around and proceed to tell me how it is not good work and they are really disappointed and the price was just too outrageous and ON and ON and ON! So of course I instantly think about the $100 of product I have into this cake and the 14 hours of my life I spent making it and of course I am retarded and can barely keep from crying so I apologize profusely and leave telling them I will be back to get it after the reception and I ask them please not to take it apart- I will come back and box it up for them and take it apart.
So I go home and try not to be devastated about the situation. I have a friend who just opened a photography studio and wants me to sell my stuff out of her shop- so I was going to at least use this cake as a display in her window- at least then I felt like I got some advertising or something out of the deal. WRONGO! I go back to pick up my forms and plate and box up their cake and they have trashed it. It is in no way usable for a display... oh and did I mention that they refuse to pay for it?! No worries- it was only the money I had been counting on for Christmas this year.
Ok---I am done venting. I guess you live and learn and I learned that I have to make people pay upfront!

Jaxman Update

Just wanted to give a little update of what the little man has been up to. He has been hanging out with my dad alot. Last weekend he went up to the cabin and stayed the night without Mom! He was so excited! This is him hanging out by the fire. Doesn't that look like one of the best places to hang out! And he made domino towers with grandpa- "Mom! It was 18 stories tall!"
Last night my dad called to see if Jax would help him work on the log bed he is making for the cabin. Jax was so excited to go help in the shop. They shaved all the bark off (yes- my dad let my child use a sharp object) and then he sanded a little table top. (Notice the boots- I bought them for his halloween costume and now he thinks he has to wear them every day!)

He is such a handy little man! I love my little cowboy so much!
Happy 7th Birthday Mitch Lindsay!
